Regional ROOTS

Following many years of successful ROOTS Events traditionally held over the 1st May bank holiday weekend in Southport, we feel it is time to do something new and take the event on the road!

Regional ROOTS events will be for those passionate about mission and spiritual renewal within The Salvation Army and the wider Christian Church.  With inspiring teaching, resources, dynamic worship, youth and children’s programmes and so much more, ROOTS has something for all ages.

At our regional events in 2012 and 2013 we will explore the challenge of social justice, asking what does it mean to be a prophetic witness in the face of social injustice.  Not content with just dealing with the consequences, we will ask how we can actively tackle the causes, to engage, and to struggle for change.  Grounded in the regional context, ROOTS will challenge Salvationists to take seriously the call to social action, recognising that many of us need to change our minds about what we do to respond to injustice within our local communities.

We start in Scotland and are delighted that General Linda Bond is able to join us at ROOTS Scotland.  Under the title ‘The Challenge Ahead’ she will share her vision for The Salvation Army.
