KIDS ROOTS 2011

The Incredible Journey

At ROOTS 2010 we met three intrepid explorers (Penny, Kev and Ricky), as they set out on a journey with Professor Drew, a curious figure who helped them travel back in time to Old Testament days. We got to talk with Moses and hear how God had sent him on a journey to rescue the Israelites from slavery. Through lots of interactive play and tons of creativity, worship and response, we used our imaginations to put ourselves in the place of one of God’s chosen people. It was incredible!

Plans are already underway for the next stage in The Incredible Journey. KIDS ROOTS 2011 promises another action-packed weekend of fun and an experience not to be missed! We don’t want to give too much away, but this year Penny, Kev and Ricky will again pack their bags and set off to explore the wonders of God’s creation and hopefully discover the amazing truth that they too have a role to play within it.

Over the four days together we will use arts, craft and multimedia to experience ‘The Canvas’ (the bible, which is an awesome picture of the Creator God). We’ll hear ‘The Story’ (God on a mission to rescue his good but spoiled Creation!)  And with lots of opportunity given for response to all this – we’ll be encouraged to discover ways in which the bible can equip us to live out our part of the story, whoever, wherever, and however we are.

This year we’ll be joined by Sherlock Holmes and his intrepid sidekick Doctor Murray Watson, who will help us unravel clues, solve mysteries and point us in the right direction as we focus on some of the key themes taken straight from the bible itself: ‘The Book’, ‘The Creation’, ‘The Nativity’ and ‘The Word.’

KIDS ROOTS promises to be another exciting interactive experience, featuring a brand new live worship band, a dedicated team of experienced children’s workers all blessed with time to create and play!

KIDS ROOTS is for anybody who is at Primary School (school years Reception to Year 6) led by The Children’s Ministries Unit.

The morning programme runs while the adults will be in the morning Celebration and Approach sessions. During the afternoon families can spend time together, enjoying the Walk Thru the Bible Sessions or Family Zone. If you want an afternoon in Southoprt there are loads of fun things for families to do together with the beach close by for the sunny days, and an indoor pool, bowling, and cinema if the weather is not so good. KIDS ROOTS starts up again in the evening as the adults go into their celebration.  You can be assured that your children will get as much out of KIDS ROOTS as you will from the ROOTS adult programme.
