As 2012 gets underway it is time to start planning your trip to ROOTS Scotland.  We’re sure booking affordable accommodation and making travel plans are high on your too do list.  We’re pleased to announce that the Edinburgh Convention Bureau are offering an online booking service with access to discounted rates specially for ROOTS delegates.  The online booking service is straightforward and easy to use.

Discounted Bus Travel

ECB have also been able to negotiate discounted bus tickets with Edinburgh and Lothian buses, Airlink services, and sight seeing tours.  These reduced fares can be brought online before you arrive in the city.

From ITV’s “Penn & Teller” fame, John Archer has been working as a professional Comedy Magician for the past 13 years and was working semi-professionally for 10 years before that. Since turning professional John has won many awards both in the UK and abroad.

John now works in many areas performing Cabaret, Stage and Close up or Table Magic for a multitude of events and organisations including Corporate, Private, Theatre, Cruises and Television. As well as being a top class performer John has also written and appeared in several Television shows.

So who is he? Well he’s a comedian, magician, actor, singer, musician, writer, didgeridoist… and all round modest guy. Oh and a member of ‘The Inner Magic Circle with Gold Star’. That’s about as high as you can go without inventing your own club and making something else up.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience that this move may cause our delegates.  If you have already booked in your booking will automatically be transferred, you do not need to do anything.  We have contacted each lead booker by phone or email to inform them of the venue change and asked that they inform everyone they have purchased a ticket for.  If you wish to speak to us about the venue change please do not hesitate to contact us.

While we did not want to move we feel that the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena is the best possible option.  Located 40 minutes south of Perth on junction 2 of the M8, and at the bottom of the M9, the venue is as accessible as we can make it from the North, West and East of Scotland by road, rail and air.  The new venue is within easy reach of Edinburgh International Airport, with a good range of affordable hotel options.

The EICA is a suburb venue, with fantastic spaces for all our programme, including KIDS ROOTS and Youth Rally, all under one roof.  We didn’t want to move, but we are very pleased with the new location!

Ian is the Secretary for Programme for the UK Territory and has strategic and operational oversight of the delivery of The Salvation Army’s social and evangelistic mission in the UK and Ireland.  He led the Bible Studies at ROOTS 2010 where we enjoyed his informal teaching style, combining strong and practical application with a ready fund of stories and dry humor!

At ROOTS Scotland Ian will take a look into what scripture has to say about issues of social justice, exploring what the Bible instructs, both about caring for the victims of injustice, and also what role we are to play to fight for justice and bring about lasting change.
